Model 1: For women under 30 years old who have never delivered vaginally or by caesarean section.
Model 2: For women over 30 years old and/or for women who have delivered vaginally or by caesarean section. The Model 1 cup is 1 11/16" (~4.3 cm) in diameter and the Model 2 cup is 1 13/16" (~4.6 cm) in diameter. Both cups are approximately 2 1/4" (~5.7 cm) in length in the body of the cup, with another 3/8" (~1 cm) stem (2 5/8" total length). The stem may be trimmed to adjust for comfort.
There is a small difference between the two sizes (Model 1 is 1/8" (~0.3 cm) smaller), but it is important to use the recommended sizing to prevent leakage.
We recommend Model 2 if you are 30 or over 30 years old, because as we age, our hips naturally widen and the vaginal muscles lose elasticity. Because the vaginal muscles hold The DivaCup in place, it is important to use Model 2 if you are over 30, even if you have not had childbirth.
The DivaCup is approved by the FDA (USA) and Health Canada.
It is made of
soft medical grade silicone, which is latex-free,
100% hypoallergenic and odorless. For over 50 years, silicone has been safely and extensively used in products for the health care industry. Every DivaCup comes with a discreet drawstring carry bag, full instructions, and an extra pamphlet to share.
They also include an exclusively designed Diva pin with silver accents, that they hope you can proudly wear to show your support and help them spread the word about this amazing product! Back in the 1930's the innovative menstrual cup was invented as a form of internal feminine protection.
The DivaCup is a modern version of this proven concept that has been redesigned with the latest technology in moulding and materials.
Since The DivaCup is
reusable, it is very economical. As well, you can feel confident that you are doing your part in environmental conservation. Landfill and pollution problems are on the rise and continue to be a worldwide concern.
The DivaCup Features:
The DivaCup, a menstrual alternative, ends hassles with unreliable disposable tampons and sanitary pads in endless absorbencies, shapes and styles. This makes it perfect for all activities.
Menstrual Cup History and Our Story:
The menstrual cup was developed in the 1930’s. It was first made from latex rubber (an allergen for many)... The DivaCup Team has over 38 years of combined experience in natural feminine hygiene alternatives.
Quality and Standards: The DivaCup is the only menstrual cup allowed for sale in Canada by Health Canada. It also holds market approval by the U.S. FDA, and is the only menstrual cup to achieve the rigorous ISO 13485 certification.
Be a "Green" Diva: The DivaCup, an innovative menstrual cup, is reusable making it an environmentally responsible choice as important as switching from plastic to canvas bags! Disposable tampons and pads create billions of units of disposable waste that is dumped into landfills each year.
Menstrual Health Worldwide: We are all aware of the difficult plight of women in developing countries. Most of these women face challenges in dealing with their monthly cycle, and they do not have adequate feminine hygiene protection options.

Review:
-I wish I'd had one of these my whole life.
It's easy to use (try it before your period starts so you can get the hang of it), and as long as you're not squeamish about your own fluids you will be SO GLAD YOU GOT THIS. It's easy! It's CLEAN! It keeps your outside clean and your insides moving, not to put too fine a point on it, which just leads to optimum vaginal health.
-Boy am I glad I decided to go for it!
Now.... I'm going to assume that everyone reading a review about the Diva Cup is a woman, since I can't imagine why in the world a man would be on this page...
So, I'm going to write frankly, woman to woman, on my experience with this.
I was initially concerned that the cup wouldn't work for me. I have an extremely heavy flow. I've had situations in which using both a pad AND a tampon (super absorbent-mind you)still resulted in embarassing moments. And this was within a VERY short time after inserting/applying the before mentioned product.
Happily, I've had no problems with any leaks. (But, to be on the safe side, I do wear a pad, just in case. So far, the pad's proven to be unnecessary.) The Diva Cup has the capacity to hold FAR more than pads and tampons can.
-I have used this product for almost 2 years, and my only regret is that I didn't start using this product much sooner than I did. I think if women tried this product they simply would not go back to anything else on the market - it's that simple, economical, and private.
-I am so lucky to have found such a product. Not only will it save you money by not having to purchase monthly sanitary products, but it really makes your life a lot easier while helping the environment. What else could you ask for?
You just put it in and forget about it for almost the whole day. Plus you don't have to worry about TSS! I have never been able to use tampons. The chemicals in them would give me headaches and cramping.
-I found the DivaCup out of absolute desperation -- for a long time I was noticing that I would get intense itching the last day or two of my period. It got to the point that I couldn't stand it anymore, so I went on the internet searching for answers. That was when it first dawned on me that I may have a sensitivity to commercial pads (duh!). At the same time, I found out that tampons were a possible cause of my debilitating cramps. For at least 8 years, I used to have cramps so bad that I would curl up in a ball unable to move -- they would even wake me up at night out of a sound sleep.
I already knew about Instead, which is a disposable cup, so I tried that first. When that didn't work for me, I didn't have high hopes for the DivaCup but I tried it anyway. Boy was I impressed! Since trying the DivaCup 8 months ago, I have had only very light cramps, and only for half of the first day of my cycle. All I can think is that tampons were somehow irritating my cervix and causing severe cramping (unlike tampons, the DivaCup doesn't touch my cervix). Also, my periods are now a full day shorter than they used to be. I have no idea why that is (mild suction maybe?), but I've observed it again and again.
On to the actual product. I love this thing, and I'm so happy I found it. It has changed my life. I can't say it is easy to learn (it wasn't, at least for me), and it's not necessarily always easy to use, but it is so worth it!!
-I used to dread my period. By me being overweight and suffering from fibroid tumors, my periods have always been very heavy. I would have to use two super-plus tampons at one time, plus a pad for backup. And working in customer service (sitting all day and not being able to go the ladies' room as often as needed) created a problem. With the Diva Cup, I can make it thru an entire work day without worrying about any leakage.
-I bought my DivaCup about eight months ago, and I have been loving it ever since. I had always been frustrated with tampons and pads: too bulky, too dry, too much trash generated each month, too much trouble to carry around a big stash in purse, lots of leaks, and a never-ending expense. Why should I have to pay a tax for being female, right? So I'd been looking into tampon alternatives (I used and recommend OB for anyone out there still using tampons: they're small and have no applicator, so I found them much easier to use, easier to carry discretely, and they produced much less waste). I came across the Divacup and after reading hundreds of positive reviews I thought I'd give it a shot. Well, let me tell you, I've packed up my dozens of leftover tampons and pads into a big ziplock bag that I keep under the bathroom sink for the benefit of female party guests- I sure don't need them anymore. I have been so pleased with the performance of my divacup - although there is a learning curve, it's not difficult to learn how to use it.
